Gone is the day of the standard kitchen mug that you may have had in all the colors of the rainbow. Nowadays your coffee mug or workout bottle tends to define who you are when you are out in public. A lot has changed over the last 10 or 15 years and the coffee mug is one such item that has changed.
I have taken notice of the workplace coffee mug over the years and what it says about a person. From floral coffee mugs to coffee mugs telling you exactly how the person who owns the cup feels there is no doubt the coffee mug has mastered messaging. Most employees in the workplace have more than one office coffee mug at their desk, while there are other people who stick to one specific coffee mug. One job I worked at had specific coffee mugs they wanted used when conducting meetings with clients or when using the conference rooms for employee meetings.
I remember the relaxing time after work when you would arrive home and have an evening cup of coffee or tea. It was not a complicated cup and it came in a basic primary color that you could live with. For me, the simplicity of the coffee cup made my tea or coffee that much more relaxing. The basic coffee cup in the different colors put a splash of the rainbow in the cabinet. In the morning when I opened the cabinet, it made me happy to see so many colors. At work, the basic coffee cup sitting on your desk appeared to tell people you were all business. Although that is a bit deceiving and shame on the person that thought that just by looking at your coffee cup, the coffee cup was efficient in its messaging.

Where did you land on the above scale of coffee mug hierarchy? Sadly, I landed on the third mug, which shows how much I have changed. Because I am very curious about the technology that makes this coffee mug control the temperature itself, I will most likely invest in this mug just to say I tried it out.
